Stories of Compassion: Families Share Their Experience

July 06, 2026

When a life-limiting illness enters your life, the support you and your family receive matters the most. At PruittHealth, hospice and palliative care follow a family-centered approach, with care delivered wherever our patients are the most comfortable.

We treat our patients like our own family, and we live out our core values through the care we provide. In the following stories, families share how our compassionate care has impacted their lives, bringing comfort to them and their loved ones during a difficult chapter.

“I could not be happier with the care that my father and our family received from PruittHealth Hospice (Rome). The staff deeply cared for my family, and that kindness was very much needed and appreciated. The admissions process was blazingly fast, and they included everyone with patient care education. It amazed me at how fast they had equipment, oxygen, and medication delivered.

They always made sure we had all the supplies Dad needed, and they called to let us know when they were on their way. As Dad needed more care, it was provided without us asking. I felt like the medical staff was top notch, and I loved that we had the same health care aide throughout Dad's time with PruittHealth.

When Dad passed, we felt prepared, and they sent a nurse out right away. He was so good with all of us, and gentle with caring for and dressing Dad. It really meant a lot that the nurse took such care to preserve Dad's dignity. The nurse also made all the calls we needed to make, so that our family didn’t have to worry and had time to process.”

“This by far was such a positive experience. Losing my father was not easy, but the team I had at PruittHealth Hospice (Augusta) was by far the best I have ever dealt with.

My dad's nurse, Nate, was a godsend and such a blessing to my family. He went above and beyond to make sure my daddy went as peacefully as possible and gave our entire family (and there were many of us) comfort and care the entire time. He went out of his way to make sure my dad’s final wishes were fully carried out. Nate even spent his own time and money to make sure I had my daddy’s fingerprints, so I can have a keepsake with me always.

I cannot thank this team enough for the top-tier care and resources they provided my family. Losing a loved one is never easy but this team sure made it bearable. My heart goes out to the entire staff at PruittHealth for the incredible work they do.”

“Our Mom was diagnosed with a lung disease about four years ago, and it was especially hard on our family because we knew there was no cure. About two years ago, her health started to decline, so we moved her in with us. Last August, her doctor suggested that we should start hospice care. After some research, we decided on PruittHealth Hospice (Atlanta).

From the very first visit, we received exceptional care from the nurses and CNAs at PruittHealth. The day my mom passed, I called to let the team know and the CNA rushed over to my home. She sat with me and helped me in my mom’s final moments. The nurse cried and comforted me during this very vulnerable day. I would highly recommend PruittHealth Hospice to anyone in need of these type of services.”
