Two PruittHealth Centers Move to Alert Code Red Status
Norcross, Georgia (July 1, 2020) – Parkwood Developmental Center (Valdosta, Ga.) and PruittHealth – Old Capitol (Louisville, Ga.) are now operating at Alert Code Red status, with at least one presumptive positive COVID-19 case in the centers or transferred to a local hospital. PruittHealth is awaiting formal confirmation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and has been in communication with the affected individuals’ families, physicians, and local health departments.
By initiating Alert Code Red status, the two centers have continued to implement enhanced infection control protocols, including increasing cleaning frequency, postponing communal activities, ceasing visitation, and screening staff, patients, and clients daily. PruittHealth continues to urge staff to avoid contact with those who are sick and consult with a physician if they do not feel well.
PruittHealth is closely monitoring its patients in all centers who are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 and have notified all staff and families affected. The organization continues to follow the latest guidelines from public health officials for the safety of its patients and staff.
